Spring Wedding in Downtown Portsmouth, NH

A Spring Wedding in Portsmouth, NH
Melissa and Joe were married on Saturday, April 14th in downtown Portsmouth, NH, a crisp spring day, moderately overcast, yet not a drop of rain fell despite forecasts to the contrary. Blooming yellow daffodils and purple crocus were a welcome sight throughout the city; nature's early announcement of winter being clearly in the rearview mirror. Their ceremony was held at the South Church, and was followed by a Mambo Restaurant reception down by Prescott Park.

I had met Melissa and Joe last June 2017, when I had the pleasure of shooting their engagement session on nearby Newcastle, NH's Great Island Common. They are an awesome couple whose obvious love for one another is only rivaled by their sensational sense of humor. Smiles and laughs come easily to Melissa and Joe, and their array of good-natured facial expressions and willingness to embrace vulnerabilities in front of the camera made them so much fun to work with; truly a photographer's dream. I had been looking forward to capturing their special day since last June, and was blessed to have Kris Lenox (KLenox Photography) shooting with me on this day.

Getting ready photographs took place at the Hilton Garden Inn for Melissa and her bridesmaids, and at the South Church for Joe and his guys. Once ready, Melissa and her girls made the walk across town to the church. The bridal trek made for some awesome photographic opportunities, which Kris captured so well.

Following their gorgeous church ceremony, Melissa and Joe, along with their entire wedding party and family, slowly made their way down to Mambo, but not before they all made a short and highly spirited visit to The Clipper Tavern across from the church, for celebratory cocktails.

As we made our way to the reception, Kris and I were able to capture Melissa and Joe's stroll through the city as newlyweds. They were so generous with their time, and it was truly a pleasure to spend this time with them.

The Mambo reception began with introductions, a first dance and toasts, followed by an amazing Mambo dinner. The food at Mambo is sooo good! Dinner was followed by a packed dance floor, which never let up. Right after dusk, Kris and I were able to sneak Melissa and Joe out into the chilly night to grab some night portraits along the Portsmouth waterfront.

Below are just a handful of highlights from the day. Enjoy and congrats Melissa and Joe!!

A special thank you to Kris Lenox (www.klenoxphoto.com) for shooting this one with me. She is awesome!
